Richard LANE Collection
Richard Lane (1926–2002) was an American scholar, author, collector, and dealer of Japanese art. After his passing in 2003, The Tokyo Museum and the Hawaiian Museum purchased and split his former collection in half. In 2009, the Hawaiian Museum hired some experts from Japan, Korea and China in order to sort and organize the acquisition. For a period of time, they separated the master pieces and high quality material for them to keep, from the scholars and less "Museum worthy" material. Because of the large amount of material, they never took the time to accession it. The prints, paintings and drawings listed below are from the former Richard Lane collection, and were sold on auction by the Hawaiian Museum:
